Goddess Getaway, St. Croix : Reflections Post Retreat

2 months ago today I left for St. Croix to host a Goddess Getaway Retreat. I was filled with an expected mix of excitement and nervousness. Angela and I had planned out the whole schedule, but as is life, some things you just can’t plan for, but rather open your 💜 to what will be.

Two months ago today I left for St. Croix, US Virgin Island, to host the Goddess Getaway, a yoga, meditation and adventure retreat. I was filled with an expected mix of excitement and nervousness. Angela, my retreat partner, and I had planned out the whole schedule and every detail of the sessions, but as is life, some things you just can’t plan for. Yoga has taught me to open my 💜 to what will be, rather than clinching tight to the “plan”.

I’ve taken this two months to share my reflections in this way because life changing experiences cannot be fully portrayed in photos, few sec videos or words. They can only be felt. Which is why there is a heightened sense of specialness when people dive in deep together. It’s like everyone knows the rarity of such a thing, so they commit to fully being there. At least that’s how it was for us 14 women at Feather Leaf Inn.

We came from all around – Charleston, Asheville, Texas, New York, Colorado, and even Mexico. Most of the women went in only knowing 1-2 others (except for the 4 of us who sailed the #greekcyclades last summer together on my Sailing & Yoga Retreat). Yet the laughter, love, and sense of seeing and being seen was there from day 1. It was as if our spirits had all met before and were waiting for that moment to reconnect.

👆That’s what genuine presence does- brings SPIRIT to the surface, which is all knowing & connecting. So in a way, anytime we are fully present with ourselves or others, it feels perfectly right because SPIRIT had been waiting for arrival.

🧘🏼‍♀️ Yes, it was a yoga and meditation retreat, but the experience was filled with so much more than the physical practice on the mat.

We were playful – in the crystal clear water, swimming after turtles & sting ray 🐢, walking through natures bounty, trying hard postures while laughing at the challenge.

It was sensual – taking in the bright hues of the sunsets rising over the ocean horizon seen from the main house balcony 🌅, drooling over the vegan feasts of every meal, deeply feeling the sensations of breath & stretch.

It was intuitive – with plenty of space between sessions for people to do as they please (whether explore the lands or relax by the pool) and encouragement to move in a way that felt natural for their body in the moment.

It was feminine – graceful, deep, creative, dreamy, relaxing, sensitive, and yet also full of life 🌊

I hope we will come together again, but that exact experience will forever be a #beautifulmemory bringing a smile to my heart. What a blessing!

Here are some pictures so that you can live vicariously through us. And maybe you can come along for the next one!
